Job summary

Marathon Health is seeking a Director of Internal Communications to lead the enterprise communication strategy and act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. You will partner with People Operations and senior leaders to align messaging with business priorities, culture, and teammate experience.

The role focuses on driving engagement, governance, data-driven insights, and responsible AI use to modernize communications and improve outcomes across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, Human Resources or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, executive communications, organizational communications, change management, or teammate experience.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with executive leadership and leading enterprise communication strategies.
  • Proven success supporting organizational transformation, technology implementations, mergers, acquisitions, or other large-scale business initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, storytelling, and relationship-building skills with strong executive presence.
  • Experience using communication metrics, analytics, and teammate insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated expertise leveraging AI and emerging technologies to modernize communications, improve operational efficiency, personalize the teammate experience, and drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of governance, responsible AI practices, digital communication platforms, and organizational change.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Marathon Health's enterprise communication strategy aligned with business priorities, organizational culture, and the teammate experience.
  • Partner with People Experience, Executive Leadership, Marketing and other senior leaders to align internal and external messaging with priorities.
  • Serve as enterprise communications advisor, creating plans for organizational changes and initiatives while educating leaders on best practices.
  • Lead communication strategies for enterprise initiatives, transformations, crises, executive transitions, and business disruptions.
  • Strengthen teammate engagement, leadership visibility, and alignment through campaigns and channels.
  • Oversee enterprise channels like Town Halls, intranet, newsletters, and digital platforms.
  • Create tools and education for People Leaders to communicate priorities and lead change.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships to ensure timely, coordinated communications.

ABOUT THE JOB.

The Director,InternalCommunications leads Marathon Health's enterprise communication strategy, ensuring teammates are informed, engaged, and connected to the organization's mission, culture, and business priorities.

Reporting to the Vice President, People Operations, this role serves as a strategic communications advisor to executive leadership and a key member of the People Experience team. The Director drives organizational alignment, strengthens leadership communications, enables enterprise change, and enhances theteammateexperience through thoughtful communication strategies, data-driven insights, and AI-enabled innovation.

Working in partnership with leaders across the organization, this role ensures the right information reaches the right audiences at the right time while advancing a transparent, connected, and high-performing culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Communication Strategy
  • Develop and execute Marathon Health's enterprise communication strategy aligned with business priorities, organizational culture, and the teammate experience.
  • Partner with People Experience, Executive Leadership, Marketing and other senior business leaders to develop integrated communication strategies that align internal teammate communications with external branding messaging and business priorities.
  • Serve as the enterprise communications advisor, partnering with leaders to develop communication plans for organizational changes, business initiatives, executive messaging, and enterprise announcements while educating leaders on communication best practices and change readiness.
  • Lead communication strategies for enterprise initiatives, organizational transformations, crisismanagement, executivetransitions, business disruptions, and other high-impact situations.
  • Strengthen teammate engagement, leadership visibility, and organizational alignment through effective communication strategies and enterprise campaigns.
  • Oversee enterprise communication channels, including Town Halls, executive communications, the intranet, newsletters, Microsoft Teams, lock screens, and other digital communication platforms.
  • Create and deliver communication tools, resources, and education that enable People Leaders to effectively communicate organizational priorities, lead change, improve teammate understanding, and drive consistent application ofpeoplepractices.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships to ensure communications are coordinated,timely, and aligned across the enterprise.
Teammate Experience & Engagement
  • Develop communication strategies that foster engagement, transparency, inclusion, and connection to Marathon Health's mission and values.
  • Establish communication standards and best practices that improve consistency and reduce communication fatigue.
  • Lead the communication strategy and executionforPeople Experience initiatives, includingmonthly, quarterleadership meetings, organizational announcements, and enterprise campaigns.
  • Manage the People Experience communications calendar to ensuretimely, coordinated, and effective messaging across the organization.
Data, Analytics & Governance
  • Develop communication dashboards and performance metrics to measure effectiveness, engagement, and business impact.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and digital technologies to continuously improve communication effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Analyze communication trends and teammate feedback to continuously improve communication strategies and the teammate experience.
  • Present communication insights, recommendations, and trends to executive leadership.
  • Establish communication governance, editorial standards, and enterprise communication processes that improve quality, consistency, and organizational alignment.
AI & Digital Communication Innovation
  • Champion the use of AI and emerging technologies to improve communication quality, speed, personalization, accessibility, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify innovative opportunities to modernize teammate communications while maintaining governance, trust, and responsible AI practices.
  • Reimagine how communications are created, personalized, translated, distributed, and measured through responsible use of AI and automation.

The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level.
