Job summary

Central Mutual Insurance Company seeks a Director of Internal Audit to shape and lead the internal audit function, partnering with executive leadership to strengthen risk management, governance, and controls. The role emphasizes data-driven insights, innovation, and collaboration across the enterprise.

You will oversee strategy, external audit relationships, and a risk-based audit plan while guiding a team to deliver meaningful, actionable findings that support long-term organizational success.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and 6+ years of internal audit experience or 8+ years with a Bachelor’s degree
• Insurance industry experience required
• CPA/CIA/CISA certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead the internal audit function, including strategy and execution
• Serve as trusted advisor to executive leadership and Audit Committee
• Design and govern third-party audit delivery models for quality and scalability
• Provide strategic oversight of external audit partners and ensure standards
• Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, IT and Risk Management to align focus
• Maintain internal audit charter, methodologies, and quality standards
• Oversee end-to-end audit lifecycle from planning to reporting
• Promote data-driven insights and continuous improvement in audit
