Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Infrastructure Technology based in the United States. This is a hands‑on technology leadership opportunity for an experienced IT professional ready to shape infrastructure strategy while remaining closely involved in day‑to‑day technical operations. You will lead IT teams, oversee cloud environments and corporate systems, and ensure engineering teams have reliable, secure, and scalable technology. The role spans AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Linux and Windows environments, endpoint management, cybersecurity, and enterprise telephony. A key focus is deploying and supporting secure Linux servers at customer locations, partnering with customer IT teams to meet infrastructure and security requirements. You will drive automation, standardization, and operational excellence while maintaining a strong commitment to service quality and documentation. This remote position offers broad ownership of the technology landscape, opportunities to influence strategic decisions, and direct impact on both internal operations and customer success.

Accountabilities
  • Lead IT operations and strategy: Manage, mentor, and develop the IT team while coordinating priorities, resources, and service delivery. Partner with executive leadership to establish the technology roadmap, budget, standards, and operational goals.
  • Manage vendors and IT governance: Oversee hardware procurement, software licensing, vendor relationships, and service contracts. Maintain IT policies, asset inventories, documentation, and standardized operating procedures.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure: Administer AWS services, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, networking, and storage, as well as Microsoft Azure and Entra ID. Monitor availability, performance, security, and costs.
  • Strengthen resilience and automation: Own backup strategies, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Improve infrastructure reliability and efficiency through automation, standardization, and repeatable processes.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and identity systems: Manage Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, user accounts, licensing, permissions, multifactor authentication, conditional access, and single sign‑on. Maintain SaaS integrations, endpoint controls, email security, and data protection policies.
  • Manage Linux and Windows environments: Provision and maintain Linux servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu, alongside Windows Server and Windows 10/11 environments. Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, system updates, and endpoint infrastructure.
  • Lead customer‑site server deployments: Manage the full deployment lifecycle, including hardware selection, operating system installation, security hardening, configuration, testing, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Develop standardized server builds, installation guides, deployment checklists, and technical runbooks.
  • Coordinate with customer IT teams: Validate networking, firewall rules, access requirements, server readiness, and security policies. Resolve infrastructure issues remotely and travel to customer sites when required for deployments, troubleshooting, and technical coordination.
  • Automate infrastructure administration: Use tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies to streamline routine tasks and improve operational consistency.
  • Oversee end‑user support: Serve as the senior escalation point for complex hardware, software, network, and access issues. Manage the help desk, ticket queue, service‑level targets, and employee support experience.
  • Manage hardware lifecycle operations: Oversee device procurement, imaging, deployment, inventory, maintenance, repair, and retirement, including laptop and desktop component replacement when necessary.
  • Maintain telephony and cybersecurity: Administer the 3CX phone system, including extensions, call routing, interactive voice response (IVR), SIP trunks, desk phones, and softphones. Oversee endpoint protection, firewalls, VPNs, secure remote access, vulnerability management, patch compliance, incident response, and remediation.
  • Support security and compliance: Conduct security awareness training, maintain access reviews and security documentation, and collaborate with customers to address infrastructure security requirements across cloud and on‑premises deployments.
Requirements
  • Professional experience: At least 15 years of IT experience, including a minimum of five years leading an IT team.
  • Cloud infrastructure expertise: Strong hands‑on experience managing AWS infrastructure and cloud operations, with familiarity with Microsoft Azure and related identity services.
  • Microsoft ecosystem knowledge: Experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID, identity and access management, single sign‑on, multifactor authentication, and endpoint management.
  • Linux administration: Strong practical experience with RHEL and/or Ubuntu, including server provisioning, configuration, security hardening, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Windows and endpoint administration: Experience managing Windows Server, Windows desktop environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, networking, and endpoint infrastructure.
  • Security and resilience: Knowledge of security best practices, vulnerability remediation, patch management, backup and recovery strategies, secure remote access, and disaster recovery.
  • Automation skills: Ability to automate infrastructure and administrative tasks using scripting and configuration‑management tools. Familiarity with Ansible and Terraform is preferred.
  • Technical troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills across servers, operating systems, networking, hardware, software, and access issues, with the ability to respond calmly to outages and critical incidents.
