Lead Enterprise Transformation Across an Iconic Multi-Brand Organization
This highly visible role serves as the organization's lead architecture authority across application development, infrastructure, cloud, and security architecture, helping guide technology decisions that support growth, modernization, operational efficiency, and innovation.
Reporting to the SVP, IT Security & Platform Services, you will establish architecture standards, lead application portfolio rationalization efforts, influence technology investments, and partner with senior business and technology leaders to create a scalable and secure technology ecosystem.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced architect who thrives in complex environments and enjoys bringing structure, clarity, and strategic direction to enterprise technology landscapes.
Location:Hybrid position based in the Greater New York City area, with consideration for candidates located in the Atlanta, GA, Columbus, OH or Greater Chicago, IL markets. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of one of the designated markets to support periodic in-office collaboration and leadership meetings.
What You'll Do
- Define and maintain enterprise reference architectures across application, integration, data, cloud, infrastructure, and security domains.
- Develop architecture principles, engineering standards, and governance processes that enable consistency across brands and technology teams.
- Chair the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and evaluate key technology initiatives, vendor solutions, and platform investments.
- Manage the enterprise technology roadmap and technology lifecycle strategy.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive inventory of applications, platforms, and technology tools across the enterprise.
- Assess application business value, technical fitness, cost, risk, and lifecycle status.
- Identify opportunities for modernization, consolidation, optimization, and retirement of redundant systems.
- Develop multi-year modernization and transformation roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
Drive Infrastructure & Cloud Strategy
- Define and guide the company's hybrid and multi-cloud architecture strategy across Azure and GCP environments.
- Establish standards for cloud landing zones, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), DevOps integration, automation, and platform engineering.
- Partner with Infrastructure & Operations teams on data center, SAP, and enterprise platform initiatives.
Advance Security-First Architecture
- Embed security-by-design principles into architecture standards and the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with cybersecurity leadership to establish standards for identity, access management, network segmentation, data protection, cloud security, and Zero Trust initiatives.
- Provide architectural leadership for remediation and modernization efforts related to technology risk reduction.
Influence Enterprise Technology Investments
- Partner with IT leadership, Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders to evaluate major technology investments.
- Develop business cases, total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, and investment recommendations.
- Identify and quantify opportunities for savings through application consolidation, cloud optimization, vendor rationalization, and legacy platform retirement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and technology governance committees.
Requirements
Required
- 10+ years in enterprise/solutions architecture roles spanning application, infrastructure, and security disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience building reference architectures and standards from scratch in a complex, multi-entity, or multi-brand environment.
- Hands‑on experience leading application portfolio rationalization (inventory, scoring frameworks, roadmap creation) — not just theoretical familiarity.
- Strong hybrid/multi-cloud experience (Azure and/or GCP).
- Working knowledge of security architecture principles (identity, network segmentation, cloud security posture) and ability to partner fluently with a cybersecurity team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication — this role writes the standards and roadmaps that others will be held to, and must influence without formal authority.
Preferred
- E-commerce or retail industry experience, especially multi‑brand or post‑M&A environments.
- Exposure to SAP-centered environments and legacy data center modernization/consolidation.
- Architecture framework familiarity (TOGAF or equivalent) certification a plus, not required.
- Experience presenting to CIO/CFO‑level audiences and participating in technology investment governance.
