Job summary

Penn State, College of Health and Human Development, invites applications for an Associate or Full Teaching Professor and Director of Human Performance Science. This 48-week non-tenure track appointment will begin January 1, 2024 and support an interprofessional MPS in Human Performance Science within ICA.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree in kinesiology, nutrition, physiology, psychology, athletic training, sports medicine, or a closely related field.
  • Recent experience working in performance science with athletes and other performance-based populations.
  • Experience in the design and development of new courses, or revisions of existing courses, and introduction of innovative teaching and assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency (Associate Professor) or mastery (Full Professor) in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Experience in education program administration or management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of cutting-edge, interdisciplinary, experientially-grounded curriculum in human performance science.
  • Develop courses within the curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality performance instruction and mentoring.
  • Engage in the practice of human performance science.
  • Collaborate closely with multiple academic departments and ICA programs.
  • Provide feedback to the department head on HPS instructor performance.
  • Develop a community of practice, including ICA staff and graduate student interns, to support student-athletes seeking to maximize performance on and off the field of play.
