Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Director of Hospital-Based Services to lead hospital-based departments, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure high quality patient care. The role partners with clinical and operational leaders to standardize workflows and improve outcomes.

Responsibilities include managing budgets, analyzing performance, and implementing improvements across Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Anesthesia & Critical Care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field.
• Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field preferred.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible healthcare operational experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of management experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operations of assigned hospital-based service departments to achieve organizational, operational, quality, and patient experience goals.
• Establish departmental priorities, performance expectations, and operational standards.
• Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
• Develop, implement, and monitor operational and strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
• Direct departmental operating and capital budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal management and resource utilization.
• Analyze operational and financial performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead implementation of projects that enhance efficiency, productivity, and service delivery.
• Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to standardize workflows, optimize processes, and improve patient outcomes.
• Utilize performance data to drive operational decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
• Serve as the primary liaison between assigned departments and executive leadership.
• Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, finance, human resources, and support services to achieve operational goals.
