Job summary

Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) invites a seasoned Director of Highway Maintenance to lead the HM Department. You will shape budgets, supervise district staff and coordinate with MDOT to maintain State Trunklines across Oakland County.

The role requires on-site leadership 5 days a week, with responsibility for winter operations, contractor oversight, and board presentations on appropriations and contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in civil engineering, business administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience managing union and non-union staff.
• Experience consulting executive leaders and knowledge of contract language for external agreements.

Responsibilities

• Develops annual financial plan and budget for HM Department and monitors expenditures.
• Supervises staff, handles hiring, performance appraisals and employee relations.
• Liaises with MDOT, HQ staff and other road commissions to coordinate work and contracts.
• Acts as Snow Duty Officer (SDO) and oversees winter operations readiness and response.
