Director, Healthcare/Sciences (engineering)
Location: Greater Philadelphia area (remote capacity)
Remote capacity with occasional site/office visits
Compensation: Commensurate with experience + bonus + signing bonus + profit sharing

Our client is a growing, dynamic and industry leader! In this role, you will serve as the Director to manage a multi-disciplined team for healthcare and life sciences projects. This role involves planning, new construction, and renovation projects, with a focus on Acute and Ambulatory Care Health Facilities as well as Academic and Corporate Research Facilities.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain client relationships.
- Respond to RFPs and present/interview for potential projects.
- Provide problem resolution for projects, design, staffing, timelines, etc.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients on projects.
- Coordinate, execute, and manage project budgets and staff.
- Potential to advance to VP/Department head position with significant bonus/profit sharing compensation.
- Hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
- Manage, mentor, and oversee team and cross-discipline coordination.
- Oversee technical quality and QA/QC process for the department.
- Supervise and manage team members on projects.
- Maintain project deadlines and manpower assignments.
- Develop and write bid proposals, contracts, and cost estimates.
- Provide engineering expertise, guidance, and problem-solving.
- Review project plans and timelines to ensure projects are on time and on budget.
- Establish and maintain excellent client relationships.
- Collaborate with other Department Directors for efficient operation.
- Hire, train, and mentor engineering staff with VP and President.
- Write performance appraisals and mediate performance issues.
- Ensure accurate project accounting.
- Maintain department budget and revenue projections.
- Support department marketing efforts.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of multi-discipline engineering (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection).
- Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical/IT systems design.
- Strong project management skills.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national code requirements.
- Experience with load analysis and energy modeling programs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with USGBC LEED standards.
- Strong financial management skills.
- Ability to plan and manage projects to meet client demands and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to train and mentor others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
- At least 15 years of progressive engineering and managerial experience.
- Experience in managing multi-disciplined teams of MEP engineers and designers.
