Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Dell Medical School seeks a Director, Infrastructure and Operations to lead enterprise infrastructure, endpoints, and data center strategy across hospital, academic, and research environments.

You will own Epic EHR infrastructure, cloud (Azure) governance, network and endpoint management, disaster recovery, and a multi-site operational model, reporting to the Deputy CIO and CISO, with a focus on service excellence and cost-efficient design.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of progressive IT infrastructure leadership experience.
• Five or more years managing infrastructure for a healthcare provider and hospital environment.
• Four or more years managing infrastructure for an Epic EHR system and staff with ECSA, WSSA, ODBA, and similar roles.
• Demonstrated experience owning and improving a technology support or service desk function, including accountability for service-level performance and user satisfaction outcomes.
• Three or more years of direct budgetary responsibility for an infrastructure organization.
• Proven experience with enterprise vendor management and contract negotiation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ITSM principles and service-delivery frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop multi-year infrastructure strategy spanning cloud, on-premises, network, biomedical, endpoints, telecommunications, and audio-visual capabilities.
• Own the technology service experience for all end users of Dell Medical School and UT Medicine, including clinical staff, researchers, educators, and administrative personnel.
• Lead hospital infrastructure design and buildout, including data centers, wireless, and AV systems for the new UT Medical Center.
• Manage Epic EHR infrastructure hosting and vendor relationships, including contract compliance and disaster recovery planning.
• Oversee Azure and Fabric cloud architecture, governance, cost forecasting, and security posture.
• Provide strategic leadership for network infrastructure, endpoint strategy, and desktop virtualization.
• Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning across infrastructure domains.
• Develop and manage budgets, vendor contracts, and financial analyses for infrastructure investments.
• Build and mentor a high-performing infrastructure team and collaborate across IT functions.
• Represent the organization at healthcare IT and infrastructure conferences.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare, or a related field
