Midland College invites applications for the Director of the Permian Basin Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in Midland, Texas. The role plans, develops, and evaluates health workforce programs to address shortages and disparities in the 27-county service area.

The position emphasizes collaboration with TTUHSC and Midland College leadership, budget oversight, and program development, including a marketing plan and stakeholder engagement within rural communities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university.
  • Three years of previous employment in a healthcare-related field, program administration, or community development.
  • Ability to collaborate with professionals from various health care organizations.
  • Experience with planning and implementing budgets and grants.
  • Ability to gather, collate, and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated initiative and professionalism; strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with hospitals, physicians, health practitioners, educators, civic leaders, co-workers, and community organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with grant regulations and reporting in accordance with state and federal contracting.
  • Develops, reviews, and approves budgets and major expenditures; ensures funding-source requirements are met.
  • Develops policies, procedures, and guidelines; implements and monitors compliance.
  • Plans, develops, and approves schedules, priorities, and standards; directs evaluation activities.
  • Represents the AHEC program at meetings, hearings, conferences, and on boards or committees.
  • Directs the daily activities of the Permian Basin AHEC staff.
  • Coordinate health career programs for students and independent school districts.
  • Conduct a health workforce needs assessment in the service area.
