Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health is seeking a senior professional to lead the development and administration of grant funding for corporate programs from public and private sources.

Reporting to the Vice President for Health Care Planning Policy and Standards, the role focuses on identifying funding opportunities, maximizing grant potential, and ensuring contract compliance across the funding lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Health Administration, or Public Health Care Administration.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience in Public Administration or Health Care Planning/Administration, with at least three years in grants development.
  • Masters degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design funding strategy and seek public and private funding.
  • Maintain information about outside funding sources and inform relevant units.
  • Coordinate program priorities for grant funding purposes.
  • Provide technical assistance to hospitals for funding submissions and grant compliance.
  • Develop criteria for grant review and support committees involved in grant review.
  • Develop and administer procedures and tracking systems to monitor grants through all phases.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or Public Health Care Administration
Master's degree in related fields (may substitute for one year experience)

Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Position

Under direction of the vice president, Health Care Planning Policy and Standards, is responsible for developing and administering the Corporation’s total program for securing grant support for various Corporate programs from public and private sector sources of funding. Scope of responsibilities include: (a) identification and development of sources of funding and maximization of available grants (b) administration of procedures and systems required to monitor grants through all phases of the development, funding and administrative cycles, and to insure contract compliance.

Examples Of Typical Tasks
  • Designs funding strategy and seeks public and private funding, establishes and maintains liaison with appropriate funding agencies and governmental units.
  • Maintains accurate and total information about outside funding sources suitable for Corporate purposes, and keeps appropriate units and institutions informed on availability of such sources.
  • Coordinates Corporation efforts to define program priorities for grant funding purposes.
  • Provides technical assistance to hospitals in drafting submissions for funding to facilitate approvals, maximize grant potentials and to insure that program and financial implications are understood.
  • Supervises development of criteria for grant review, and provides staff services to committees concerned with grant review.
  • Develops and administers the procedures and tracking systems to monitor grants through all phases of the funding cycle and reimbursement formula, technical assistance for contract compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Baccalaureate Degree with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration or Public Health Care Administration, and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in areas relating to Public Administration and/or Health Care Planning and Administration, at least three (3) years of which have been directly related to grants development within these fields; or,
  • A Masters Degree in related fields of study may be substituted for one (1) year of experience; or,
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
