Job summary

William & Mary seeks a Director of Career Advising & Education to lead graduate career management services in collaboration with the GCMC. The role guides workshops, curricula, events, and resources to advance graduate students and alumni toward internships and full-time roles.

You will manage data, partners, and staff to strengthen employer relations, program outcomes, and career readiness across residential and online programs, while upholding the Mason School of Business mission.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Business, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling or related field or equivalent combination of education, experience.
• Significant (10+) graduate career management experience and/or corporate experience in managing career development programs, industry and hiring trends.
• Team management experience in a service environment with responsibilities and performance evaluations.
• Ability to gather, analyze and report data on student engagement, satisfaction and outcomes.
• Experience leading career curriculum, workshops and classroom discussions.
• Ability to deliver programs on job search, skill-building and professional development.
• Strong customer service orientation in advising students and engaging with alumni and staff.
• Proficient in communications, both written and verbal.
• Technical skills include MS Office, Zoom, Teams, LinkedIn, and adapting career management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise a team of professional career advisors and graduate assistants.
• Lead career advising to graduate students and alumni, including workshops and events.
• Develop and deliver career curriculum, courses, and classroom discussions.
• Design services for residential and online students to enhance career readiness.
• Advise students through job search, marketing plans, networking and negotiations.
• Administer career assessments and help students map short- and long-term plans.
• Maintain knowledge of employment markets and recruiting trends.
• Coordinate data gathering and reporting for program outcomes.
