Rivel is seeking an accomplished ESG Consultant to join as Director, Governance and Sustainability in a fully remote or hybrid capacity, if local to Westport, CT.

As an ESG Consultant, you will be responsible for leading client relationships and supporting our clients by advising them on their governance and sustainability strategies, initiatives and disclosures.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage direct client relationships and advise clients on governance and sustainability strategies, initiatives, disclosures, and engagement.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to team members, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the successful execution of client projects.
  • Produce client ESG/sustainability reports in line with best practices and leading reporting frameworks.
  • Advise clients on climate-related financial disclosures and emerging U.S. and international regulations, including Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
  • Collaborate with other Rivel Governance and Sustainability team members on all client projects, business growth and innovation, thought leadership, and overall divisional and company-wide objectives.
  • Present to C-suite and Board of Directors.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in corporate sustainability and/or ESG and sustainability consulting.
  • Prior management experience with strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Corporate issuer and corporate communications experience a plus.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing EU/international regulations and/or conducting climate risks assessments and scenario analyses a plus.
  • Strong understanding of ESG reporting standards and frameworks, rating agencies, and voluntary disclosure platforms.
  • Experience developing annual sustainability disclosures.
  • Understanding of investor and other stakeholder perceptions and expectations of companies’ corporate governance and sustainability initiatives, performance, disclosures and the impact on reputation and decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, organization and project management skills, and alignment with Rivel's Core Values.

The range of base compensation for this position is a minimum of $135,000 to a maximum of $165,000. Compensation for any employee in this position is adjusted based on skill, effort, responsibility, education, training, credentials, geographic location, working conditions and/or experience.
