The Director, Global Medical Publications will support Otsuka in leading and developing a scientific communication strategy for publications and congresses. The role involves working closely with Global Medical Affairs Teams, Clinical Teams, Global Value & Real-World Evidence Teams, and Publications Management Specialists to plan and execute publication activities.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the Strategic Publication Planning Group (SPPG) meetings for assigned compounds to develop scientific communication platforms (SCPs), lexicons, and global publication plans.
2. Manage the Scientific Communication Platform and Lexicons for assigned compounds to ensure they are current.
3. Develop and execute global publication plans with the publication planning team and Publications Working Groups (PWGs).
4. Coordinate communication strategies with medical affairs and clinical teams, ensuring regional and local alignment.
5. Build relationships with external authors through engagement in publication activities, including congress presentation reviews and external publication steering committee meetings.
6. Provide updates on publication activities to cross-functional teams.
7. Facilitate development of congress presentations with external authors, including slide reviews.
8. Support engagement with the external medical community through digital and patient-centric communications.
9. Collaborate on content development for educational sites and support strategic planning for global medical congresses.
10. Manage publication vendors, budgets, and operational activities in collaboration with Publications Management Team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in healthcare/pharmaceutical sector with 5+ years in Medical Affairs/Scientific Publications/Medical Communications.
• Master's degree in Science required; PhD or PharmD preferred.
• 3+ years in a leadership role managing a team.
• Experience in CNS, Nephrology, or Rare Diseases is a plus.
• Proven experience with scientific peer-reviewed publications and global medical communications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and external vendors.
• Understanding of Datavision and iEnvision modules is highly preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and international).

Educational Qualifications

• Advanced scientific/healthcare degree (PharmD, PhD, MS).
• ISMPP CMPP designation preferred.

Salary range: $183,335 - $274,160 plus incentives, based on experience and skills.
