Job summary

Ocean Conservancy in Washington, DC seeks a Director of Gift Planning to lead our planned and blended giving program, set strategic priorities, grow the donor pipeline, and strengthen integration with the major gifts team.

As the senior technical expert in gift planning, you will guide complex gifts, supervise the Associate Director, Planned Giving, and collaborate with frontline fundraisers, prospect development, legal, and finance to optimize strategies and outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of progressive fundraising experience, including planned giving or related philanthropy.
• Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) designation preferred.
• Experience leading a strategic gift planning program and managing senior staff.
• Ability to build donor-centered relationships and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and growth of Ocean Conservancy’s planned and blended giving program.
• Supervise the Associate Director, Planned Giving and partner with frontline fundraisers.
• Collaborate with prospect development, development operations, finance, and legal to optimize gifts.
• Develop proposals and donor materials for complex gifts.
• Maintain relationships with professional advisors and external networks.
