Job summary

ICW Group is seeking a Director of Applied AI Engineering to lead the delivery and operation of generative and agentic AI across the enterprise. You will own AI Platforms, set standards, and collaborate with data services, cloud, product management, and governance to ensure responsible deployment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 10+ years in software/ML engineering with at least 5 years in leadership, plus experience deploying AI at scale in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software, data, or machine learning engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience delivering and operating generative or agentic AI solutions in production environments.
• Experience owning or operating an AI or machine learning platform, including model deployment, versioning, and production monitoring.
• Experience with generative AI application development, including retrieval-augmented generation, agentic and multi-agent workflows, and model evaluation methods.
• Experience in insurance or another regulated financial services environment with model governance requirements preferred.
• Master's degree in a technical or quantitative discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design, development, and production delivery of generative and agentic AI solutions across the enterprise.
• Owns AI Platforms, including managed foundation model services and agent runtime/ orchestration and ML operations.
• Establishes engineering standards for generative and agentic AI development and manages release processes.
• Directs the delivery model, team structure, and capacity planning for AI work.
• Oversees production support, ensuring reliability and performance within service levels.
• Maintains research capacity and evaluation of emerging AI capabilities.
• Collaborates with data services, cloud/infrastructure, product management, and governance to ensure responsible deployment.
