Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the field of developmental disabilities or related field, plus two years supervisory experience in the field or four years experience in the field.
• Verbal and written communication skills adequate to the task required.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology, teaching principles, human behavior or psychology useful.
• If driving a Rise vehicle, must be 21+ and meet insurance requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple locations and travel within state as needed.
• Work effectively with a team of professional staff to coordinate interventions and services.

Purpose

Responsible for the direction and management of programs in the designated district/region area through the implementation of the RISE mission, vision and values and in compliance with all regulations and policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provide management and supervision of coordinators, AAs and DSPs in the district/region, including recruitment, hiring, training, discipline, payoll/compensation. Maintain compliance with Federal and State Labor Regulations.
• Knowledgeable of and assures that programs meet expectations of RISE corporate and state policies and procedures, all requirements of funding agencies.
• Maintain necessary records, logs, and other documentation as required by RISE and the state.
• Demonstrate competency in financial and budgetary issues as required including staying within appropriated budgets, following payroll procedures, petty cash and operating accounts; and assisting clients with their personal money and checking accounts when necessary.
• As a supervisor, assure that coordinators, Program Managers and AAs effectively perform the essential functions of their positions and ensure that assistance provided to people receiving support is done through the implementation of the RISE mission, vision, and values.

COMMUNICATION:

• Communicate effectively in individual or group situations including demonstrating listening skills.
• Ability to communicate with multiple customers including the people receiving support, professional parents, advisors, natural parents, state personnel and others.
• Establish effective/frequent communication with each relevant case manager in the district/region. This shall occur at least once a month or more frequently as needed.
• Visit each program and interacts with people placed in each program at least monthly.
• Attend monthly management team meetings and communicate with management and team members as requested or needs indicate.
• An effective advocate for people receiving support
• Ability to write all necessary materials and communications relevant to the position and interpret policies, procedures and other required written material.

MANAGEMENT SKILLS

• Conduct/attend all staff meetings and other mandatory training as required by RISE.

EQUIPMENT NORMALLY USED:

• Office equipment including but not limited to: computer, printer, fax machine, copy machine, telephone and various software/systems used by RISE.
• Vehicle to transport people.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

• Ability to greet the public, use the telephone and effectively communicate with multiple customers including the people RISE supports, parents, the state, staff, and others
• Occasional travel to attend meetings/training
• Ability to exercise restraint/self-control in potentially volatile situations, including being confronted verbally and/or physically in a threatening or aggressive manner by people receiving support. May include the ability to deal with and redirect aggressive behavior that may require approved restraint.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions that may include dealing with difficult people and handling multiple work assignments.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a bachelors degree in the field of developmental disabilities, /or other related fields plus two (2) years of supervisory experience in the field and or four (4) years experience in the field.
• Must have verbal and written communication skills adequate to the specific job task required
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology, teaching principles, human behavior or principles of psychology useful
• If required to drive a RISE vehicle, must be a minimum of twenty-one years of age and meet other requirements as specified by RISE Insurance Agency
• Ability to manage multiple locations and travel within state as needed
• Must be able to work effectively with a team of professional and paraprofessional staff in a manner that ensures that interventions and services are coordinated in an effective manner in supporting clients
• Approved Background Clearance Application, through the Office of Licensing annually
• Reliable transportation to the work site and for transporting people, if applicable.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
