The Bakery Co. in Tennessee seeks a senior leader to manage food safety and quality across multiple plants. You will oversee HACCP teams, audits, documentation, and regulatory compliance to ensure product safety and quality that meets customer specs.

You will lead QA departments, coordinate with plant leadership, and drive corrective actions, data reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives to sustain supplier trust and certified status.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing plant preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Quality Assurance staff for each operation to meet quality and food safety demands.
  • Communicate and lead the company through legislative changes.
  • Participate in customer work groups to maintain relationships.
  • Review product specifications to ensure regulatory and customer compliance.

Job description

Manage all aspects of food safety and quality-related functions for a multi-plant organization including customer audits and quality personnel. Oversee and control all quality documentation and assume a leadership role working with quality departments and plant leadership to ensure a safe work environment that efficiently manufactures the highest quality products that meet customer specifications. Oversees Food Safety and HACCP teams.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities listed below define the primary duties of the position. As business demands may evolve, additional duties may be assigned to this role by your immediate supervisor.

  • Maintain and manage Quality Assurance staff(s) for each operation to meet and exceed internal and external quality and food safety demands
  • Communicate and lead the company in any legislative changes
  • Participate in customer work groups as needed to maintain appropriate relationships
  • Review product specifications at an interval that assures compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements
  • Update and lead Food Safety and Quality programs, policies, and procedures to meet or exceed the established guidelines of regulatory agencies, customers, and GFSI
  • Assure the execution and adherence of Crown Bakeries Food Safety and Quality programs, policies, and procedures through the management and oversight of local QA departments
  • Maintain quality records and data in a way that allows for an efficient flow of information to plant leadership and customers
  • Prepare for and participate, as needed, in customer and regulatory audits at each company facility to ensure superior audit scores and compliance with all regulatory, customer, and GFSI requirements.

  • Ensures effective coordination of investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, implementation of change control, and corrective and preventive actions to the adhered timelines while following up through various methods including trending to ensure all corrective and preventive actions were implemented effectively.
  • Communicate quality information on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis through reports, meetings, and presentations as required. Provide plant management and company leadership with an accurate view of the company’s performance in quality
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Food Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of Leadership experience in a food manufacturing plant
  • Effective communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Strong Computer skills, proficient at Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of statistical and analytical problem-solving procedures
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, food quality testing and safety issues
  • Experience in dealing with FDA and other government agencies
  • Certified – HACCP, PCQI, SPC
  • Knowledge of audits - GFSI – SQF, BRC, FSSC
