Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a seasoned Safety Manager to lead fleet safety, budgeting, and performance across multiple sites. You will drive KPIs, coach leaders, and ensure compliance with CSA and DOT standards while shaping a best-in-class safety culture across the organization.

Your role involves managing training programs, collaborating with drivers and maintenance teams, and delivering measurable safety outcomes with significant travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 8–10+ years in transportation or logistics, including leadership.
• Experience directing large-scale safety operations across multiple sites.
• Strong written and verbal communication, project management and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with CSA, DOT audits and safety regulations.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Direct the annual Fleet Safety budget and ensure monthly targets for accidents per million miles, LTIs, and cost per mile.
• Reduce safety risk via analysis, coaching and program improvements to minimize injuries and incidents.
• Create and manage safety KPIs and scorecards for CSA scores, DOT audits and FMCSA ratings.
• Lead safety culture initiatives, oversee SMITH System Training and PDPs, with specialized training.
• Provide direct leadership to senior safety staff and oversee supervisors and regional managers.
• Build strong relationships with drivers, site leaders, fleet maintenance, manufacturers and safety tech partners.
