Job summary

Confidential Company is seeking a Director of Fixed Assets to lead the fixed asset and lease accounting functions in a fast-paced environment in Florida. This role manages capitalization, depreciation, CIP, and disposals, ensuring accurate reporting under US GAAP and ASC 842, while guiding a growing accounting team.

You will oversee the monthly close, maintain subledger integrity, and monitor CAPEX requests, with emphasis on automation and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 5+ years of experience in fixed asset accounting.
• Previous leadership and team development experience required.
• Experience with lease accounting and ASC 842.
• Experience with ERP systems and fixed asset accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Direct the accounting and reporting of fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
• Oversee monthly close activities related to fixed assets, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Maintain the integrity of the fixed asset subledger and ensure integration with the general ledger.
• Monitor construction in progress (CIP) and capitalization of completed projects.
• Oversee physical inventory and asset verification processes.
• Lead lease accounting activities and ensure ASC 842 compliance.
• Review lease classifications, modifications, terminations, and related accounting treatment.
• Ensure accurate lease calculations, accounting entries, and reporting.
• Review and validate capital expenditure requests and coordinate required approvals.
• Monitor project spending against approved expenditures and provide related reporting.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls.
• Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders on fixed asset and lease-related matters.
• Provide analysis related to capital spending and asset utilization.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation.
• Lead, develop, and support the fixed asset accounting team.
