Job summary

Glovis America, Inc. in Irvine, CA is seeking a Director of FVL Operations to drive end-to-end Finished Vehicle Logistics across ports, VPCs, rail, and trucking. Reporting to the COO, you will shape the network, partner with commercial leaders, and lead growth initiatives while maintaining execution discipline.

You will manage KPIs, lead cross-functional teams, and develop successors to ensure organizational resilience. Domestic travel up to 30% is required.

Qualifications

  • Automotive industry FVL, OEMs, VPCs, Port Ops, Transportation.
  • Experience managing complex, large-scale client engagements.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams with direct/indirect labor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage Top Management internally and externally.
  • Solid P&L understanding, cost management and cost reduction focus.
  • Demonstrated leadership across functions and levels.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end leadership of Ports, VPCs, Rail and Truck networks to ensure performance.
  • Define and execute long-term FVL operational strategy with COO input.
  • Align operations with commercial goals and contract structures.
  • Onboard new clients and scale operational deployment with discipline.
  • Own KPIs: aging, dwell, transit time, throughput, costs, damages.
  • Contribute to enterprise strategy, governance and leadership development.
  • Develop future leaders and ensure succession readiness.

Summary

The Director of FVL Operations is a senior executive leadership role accountable for end-to-end operational execution and strategic development of the Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) network, covering Ports, Vehicle Processing Centers (VPCs), Rail, and Trucking. Reporting directly to the COO, this role is responsible not only for operational excellence and execution discipline, but also for actively shaping the future direction of the FVL network, including growth collaboration, investment collaboration, network expansion, and service capability development to support current and future OEM clients.

This position operates at the intersection of operations, strategy, and commercial alignment, ensuring that network capabilities evolve in line with market demands, customer requirements, and long-term company growth objectives. This role is designed as a critical leadership succession position, expected over time to assume broader organizational responsibilities.

Compensation

$275,000 - $326,000 yearly salary range. (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Operational Leadership. Full ownership of Ports, VPCs, Rail, and Truck execution network. Deliver consistent, reliable, and scalable operational performance

2. Strategic Network Development & Execution. Support directly with the COO to define and execute the long-term FVL operational strategy. Translate company growth objectives into scalable operational capabilities and network design. Identify opportunities for:Geographic expansion (ports, inland terminals, VPCs). Capacity enhancement and infrastructure development. New service offerings aligned with OEM needs. Actively contribute to network planning, footprint optimization, and capital investment decisions.

3. Commercial Alignment & Growth Embracement. Work closely with Commercial leadership to:Ensure operational readiness to support new business wins. Align execution capabilities with customer commitments and contract structures. Engage directly, when required, with OEM leadership to:Support solution design. Validate operational feasibility. Strengthen positioning as an end-to-end FVL provider. Ensure operations is not reactive, but a proactive driver of growth and client expansion

4. Execution of Growth Strategy. Own the operational execution of company growth initiatives, ensuring:Seamless on-boarding of new clients and volume flows. Scalable and repeatable operational deployment models. Rapid stabilization of new operations. Translate strategic wins into disciplined execution without service disruption or cost leakage

5. Operational Excellence & Performance. Own all Operational KPIs: Aging, W/S objectives, dwell, transit time, throughput, cost, damages. Drive network synchronization across all modes. Implement continuous improvement initiatives

6. Enterprise Leadership & Organizational Impact. Act as a core member of the COO leadership structure, contributing to:Company-wide operational strategy. Cross-functional decision-making. Long-term business planning. Provide leadership beyond immediate function, including:Organizational design input, Strategic prioritization, and Business transformation initiatives

7. Leadership Development & Succession Readiness. Build and lead a high-performing operations organization, developing future leaders across all FVL functions. Demonstrate capability to operate at enterprise leadership level, including:Strategic decision-making. Financial and operational trade-offs. Executive stakeholder engagement. Progressively assume expanded scope and responsibilities aligned with COO-level expectations, including:Oversight of broader operational functions. Participation in executive-level planning and governance. Direct engagement in high-impact business decisions.
