Qualifications

• Experience with M&A transactions - purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, GL recording.
• Experience reporting under US GAAP and IFRS/foreign GAAP preferred.
• Comfort with adopting AI/tools to improve financial reporting.

SESAC is looking for a a Director, Financial Reporting to join our team in Nashville. As the Director, Financial Reporting you will own the Group's consolidated financial reporting under US GAAP and will assist foreign subsidiary teams in relevant technical accounting areas, as necessary. In this role you will lead technical accounting research and conclusions, reviews contracts for the appropriate accounting treatment, supports M&A transactions from an accounting and general-ledger perspective, and work hands-on with the subsidiary finance teams on consolidation, intercompany eliminations and equity movements. As it relates to accurate and timely financial reporting, a key part of the role is leading the finance team's adoption of AI to create efficiencies across the financial reporting process.

As the successful candidate, you will be comfortable working independently and shows initiative in identifying problems, leading solutions and ensuring appropriate resolution and recording in the general ledger. You will also be comfortable and confident in leading and presenting your work to both the finance team and company leadership, and bring exceptional analytical and critical-thinking skills, strong attention to detail, and clear, collaborative communication, together with a thorough, technical-level understanding of US GAAP.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Technical accounting research and interpretation of accounting guidance in areas such as business combinations, stock-based compensation, debt, software capitalization etc. and document conclusions in accounting memos on an as-needed basis.
• Assessing accounting implications for complex transactions and guide the accounting team in accurately reflecting the accounting and financial reporting impact in the Company's financial statements (both through journal entries and financial statements presentation).
• Leading and guiding the team on AI implementation to create efficiencies in the financial reporting process. This would entail running process deep dives to identify where AI can improve operational and reporting efficiency and delivering those improvements.
• Supporting M&A transactions from an accounting and general-ledger perspective, including purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, GL recording and integration of acquired entities to help implement standardized processes related to financial reporting.
• Reviewing nonstandard contracts, including revenue, debt, investment etc. to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and document the conclusions.
• Implementing and evaluating new accounting standards.
• Reviewing monthly and quarterly consolidation and primary statements at the group level.
• Taking a hands-on approach with the subsidiary finance teams on consolidation, US GAAP and local GAAP differences, intercompany eliminations, settlements, and equity movements etc., ensuring group figures are complete, accurate and well-supported.
• Preparing annual US GAAP consolidated financial statements including drafting of disclosures.
• Serving as the primary liaison for the external auditors for overall audit management, including presenting and defending accounting positions taken by the Company.
• Working cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy.
• Assisting and overseeing special projects as assigned.
• Other duties as needed and assigned by supervisor.

What Makes You Qualified:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
• 5+ years high-quality experience in a technical accounting and/or financial reporting role.
• 2+ years public account experience preferred.
• Active CPA license required.
• Big 4 public accounting firm experience strongly preferred.
• A confident self-starter - comfortable working independently, taking initiative to solve problems, work collaboratively with the finance team to lead solutions through to completion, and presenting work to both the finance team and leadership.
• Hands-on experience with multi-entity consolidation, intercompany eliminations and settlements, and equity movements.
• Experience supporting M&A transactions - purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, and GL recording and integration of acquired entities.
Experience reporting under both US GAAP and foreign GAAP (IFRS or local) preferred.
• Comfortable adopting and working with new technology, with a curiosity for emerging tools - including AI - and how they can improve financial reporting.
• Have exceptional attention to detail and an ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office products (especially Excel).

This is a hybrid role that will require you to commute to our Nashville office a minimum of three days a week.
