Position Summary:
The Director of Finance oversees the development and execution of strategies to support financial and business objectives within the Research department. This key leadership role advises on research financial administration best practices, maintains relationships with principal investigators, physicians, and the research community, and seeks initiatives to improve financial efficiency by reducing costs and capturing revenue. The role also involves developing research administration training, mentoring team members, and managing various projects.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

  1. Billing & RBR: Oversee EPIC Research Billing Review, ensure billing compliance, revenue capture, and manage billing for all research projects, including industry-sponsored studies and third-party stipend processes.
  2. Grant Management: Manage pre- and post-award financial processes for CCRAC, assist with grant budgets, and oversee various grants including Mission, Service Package, Nursing CCRAC, and Foundation grants.
  3. Research Fee Schedule: Create and update the annual Research Fee Schedule in coordination with research leadership and other departments.
  4. UTSW Relationship Management: Manage Labor Service Order Agreements, coordinate study-specific agreements, and oversee related pricing and reimbursements.
  5. Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor AR balances, coordinate with UTSW to resolve overdue invoices, and report on AR status.
  6. Quality Control: Develop standards for billing accuracy, validate fee schedules, monitor metrics, and lead invoice quality reviews.
  7. Staff Management: Lead Financial Analysts, assign duties, evaluate performance, and foster team development.
  8. Financial Management: Analyze financial performance, manage budgets, oversee capital requests, and ensure operational efficiency.
  9. Operational Management: Implement processes aligned with division goals, manage operational budgets, and adapt to regulatory changes.

This is a full-time, primarily remote position, with occasional travel to the office as needed.

Work Experience: Minimum 10 years in Finance and Research Operations/Administration.

Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: Certified Research Administrator preferred.
