Job summary

Global Impact seeks a Director of Finance & Business Services to lead budgeting, audits, and financial systems for the Finance & Business Services (FBS) department and to serve as a backup to the Managing Director.

You will oversee accounting staff, implement new financial platforms, recruit and onboard new hires, and coordinate cross-team efforts to ensure compliant reporting across nonprofit operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years of progressive accounting and leadership experience, nonprofit management preferred.
• Proven ability to lead projects from start to finish and manage multiple clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication, detail-oriented, and customer-focused.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Managing Director with annual budget and interim projections.
• Oversee audits and 990 schedules related to FBS operations.
• Implement new financial and tracking software platforms.
• Supervise Accounting Managers and oversee staff capacity planning.
• Recruit, interview, onboard new hires in collaboration with HR.
• Coordinate meetings and plan team retreats.

The Director of Finance & Business Services manages key executive and leadership tasks related to fiscal sponsorship, business development, and financial systems for the Finance & Business Services (FBS) d epartment for Global Impact. They will serve as a backup to the Managing Director.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist the Managing Director with development of annual budget and interim projections
• P rovide daily support to team with finance systems access, transaction approvals, and general inquiries
• Oversee,coordinate,and manage all aspects annual audit and 990 schedules related to FBS operations
• Oversee implementation(s) of new financial and tracking software platforms
• Serve asabackup for overflow of client-to-staff assignmentcapacity
• Work with legal, audit,andGlobalImpactSocialWelfareFundleadership and compliance teams to ensure accounting, data collection, and reporting related to501(c)(3)lobbying are compliant with state and federal requirements
• Provide oversight and supervision of assigned Accounting Managers
• Work withtheManagingDirector tomonitorstaffcapacityand plan for staff expansions
• Work with HR to recruit, interview,coordinate,and onboard new hires
• Playafacilitative role withthefull team andassistwith regular meeting agendas, training opportunities, and planningthesemi-annual team retreat
• Work withtheBusiness Development and Fiscal SponsorshipSpecialist to review,identify,and schedule meetings withviableprospects
• Serve asaliaison between departments to coordinateappropriate services
• Assistwith developing, reviewing,andfinalizingproject proposals
• Serve asakey contact for onboarding new clients including systems set up, team assignments, initial orientation

Job Requirements

Qualifying for this role means you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and leadership roles. You have nonprofit management experience and a demonstrated ability to lead projects from start to completion, manage numerous clients and client relationships, and oversee staff. You possess a great customer service attitude and can build relationships with all organization stakeholders. With excellent attention to detail, you are able to identify problems quickly and work through resolutions either independently or with a team. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are proficient in accounting software, as well as Microsoft Office products (including advanced Excel skills).

Salary Range

$140,000 – $150,000
