PetPlace, a subsidiary of IPH, is building a digital-first pet e-commerce platform to connect key services like adoption, lost pet, and insurance to make pet care easier.

Job Summary

PetPlace seeks a Director of Finance to lead our finance department. This strategic partner to the CEO will oversee accounting, financial planning, and communication of financial performance, driving value through best practices, governance, and strategic initiatives. The role involves process improvements and ensuring effective fiscal management throughout the year.

The Director of Finance reports to the CEO, leading a team of 10, managing processes, enforcing policies across the U.S. and Canada, and providing reliable financial data and reports to leadership. Strong leadership, accounting expertise, analytical skills, and a strategic mindset are essential.

Location: Remote (must travel to NYC monthly)

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead annual planning and re-forecasting processes.
  • Provide financial reporting for monthly, quarterly, annual results, and ad-hoc needs.
  • Manage financial statements, tax, treasury, and support audits.
  • Lead the accounting team, including tax, receivables, and payables.
  • Ensure timely and accurate journal entries, reconciliations, filings, and payments.
  • Develop deep understanding of business, technology, controls, and governance.
  • Document policies, procedures, workflows.
  • Enhance tax processes and compliance efforts.
  • Drive process improvements through technology.
  • Evaluate growth opportunities and develop models for forecasting and decision support.
  • Collaborate with partners and sister companies.
  • Coordinate with parent company’s controllership for financial consistency.
  • Contribute to ERP enhancements.
  • Develop team members professionally.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years in corporate accounting/finance, with FP&A experience
  • Strong accounting knowledge and business acumen
  • Experience with sales and indirect taxes
  • 4+ years of leadership, scaling teams, fostering culture
  • Excellent communication, influence, and collaboration skills
  • Organized, proactive, accountable
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • CMA, CPA, or MBA
  • US GAAP expertise
  • Experience in financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany processes
  • Budgeting, long-term planning, forecasting
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Proven strategic delivery
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
