Job description

Role Overview

As the Director of FP&A for Echo's Supply Chain Solutions segment, you will serve as the dedicated finance leader for one of Echo's priority growth areas — encompassing Managed Transportation, warehousing, fulfillment, parcel, and cross‑border transportation. This segment represents a critical pillar of Echo's strategy to become a full supply chain solution partner for its clients. You will be the primary financial business partner to the President and senior leadership of the segment, leading all financial planning, analysis, and performance management activities. This role requires deep commercial acumen, strong leadership, and the ability to connect financial outcomes to operational drivers that define the segment. The role reports to the VP of Finance and collaborates closely with segment leadership, corporate FP&A, and cross‑functional partners across Operations, Sales, and Technology to ensure financial rigor and strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and lead all financial planning processes for the segment, including the annual budget, long‑range plan, and rolling forecasts across all service lines.
  • Produce and continuously improve monthly and quarterly segment management reporting (P&L, volume, revenue, gross profit, operating metrics) and variance analyses versus budget, forecast, and prior periods for executive and board‑level audiences.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated financial models and scenario analyses to support business and capital investment decisions.
  • Partner closely with segment leaders to analyze revenue, gross profit, and key operational KPIs across service lines; identify performance gaps versus plan and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the financial integration of service lines into the segment, including development of combined reporting frameworks and synergy tracking.
  • Design and deliver executive‑level financial presentations and board materials that communicate segment performance, strategic outlook, and investment priorities with clarity and conviction.
  • Act as a cross‑functional financial resource across Operations, Sales, and Technology; proactively engage segment VPs and directors to improve financial performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of FP&A tools, systems (Anaplan), and processes specific to the segment, including automation of KPI reporting and cost tracking across service lines.
  • Partner with accounting resources to ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of financial data and assumptions across segment reporting in accordance with company policies and applicable standards.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic decisions, including new service line launches, customer profitability assessments, network optimization, and M&A integration activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree or CPA is highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related financial role; prior people management experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the logistics, 3PL, or supply chain industry strongly preferred but not required.
  • Expertise in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with FP&A/ERP systems (e.g., Anaplan, Workday) and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of serving as a trusted financial business partner to senior operational and commercial leadership, influencing resource allocation, business strategy, and segment‑level P&L decisions.
  • Experience supporting business integration or post‑merger activities is highly desirable.
Core Skills & Competencies
  • Strategic commercial acumen: understand the economics of a multi‑service‑line logistics business and connect financial outcomes to operational and go‑to‑market drivers.
  • Executive‑level communication and presentation skills; distill complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for senior audiences.
  • Strong leadership capability: inspire and develop high‑performing teams while maintaining accountability and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional analytical rigor, attention to detail, and structured problem‑solving ability.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high‑priority deliverables simultaneously in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience in or strong enthusiasm for transportation and supply chain.
