Job summary

Interfaith Alliance in Washington, DC seeks a legally trained advocate to lead federal and state advocacy, representing the organization across all three branches of government and within the broad faith-based advocacy ecosystem, with a track record of credible legal policy work.

The Director of Government Affairs will guide legislative and regulatory work across seven issue areas, build coalitions, supervise policy staff and interns, and serve as a trusted external face to partners.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in legal advocacy or federal policy, including Capitol Hill.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one issue area and desire to develop expertise in all seven.
  • Familiarity with amicus briefs and federal litigation strategy, including working with outside counsel.
  • Strong legal and policy writing skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with progressive faith-based advocacy organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive federal legislative and executive branch agenda across Interfaith Alliance’s seven issue areas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress and federal agencies.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to relevant legislation, hearings, and executive actions.
  • Represent the organization in coalition meetings and stake-holder convenings.
  • Develop advocacy materials such as policy briefs, testimony, fact sheets, and letters.
  • Engage with the White House and federal agencies on rule-making.
  • Public speaking on our seven issue areas and support senior leadership.
