Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Director of Facilities Development to lead design, construction, and asset improvement across our corporate facilities. This role oversees projects, maintains standards, and manages budgets and vendor relationships to deliver patient‑centered care environments.

The ideal candidate has extensive healthcare construction experience and a track record of managing complex programs, with leadership skills to guide teams and partners across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field(s).
• Alternative: 20 years health care design/construction experience + Florida AHCA projects + Florida GC license + AHA Constructor.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the Facilities Development team.
• Direct, coordinate, and schedule work related to new construction, repairs, and renovations.
• Ensure compliance with industry design and construction standards.
• Oversee construction cost estimates and assist with developing project budgets.
• Ensure projects comply with applicable standards, codes, regulations, laws, and guidelines.
• Manage project commissioning and post-occupancy evaluations.
• Monitor design and construction for compliance with contractual requirements.
• Participate in vendor selection and evaluate the performance of external firms.
• Build relationships with government agencies, healthcare institutions, educational organizations, and other partners.
• Promote positive and productive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Partner across the organization to support successful project delivery.
• Manage team functions, including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
• Develop and update project management standards and protocols.
• Develop and manage the department’s annual operating budget.
• Maintain working knowledge of the eBuilder project management system.
• Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Position Summary

Director, Facilities Development

Orlando Health is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Development to provide leadership and direction for design and construction activities supporting the development, maintenance, and improvement of corporate assets.

This leader will oversee projects within an assigned service line, which may include hospitals, OHMG/ambulatory/corporate facilities, or new building development. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in healthcare construction, facilities planning, engineering, architecture, or construction management.

Education/Training

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field(s)of study. If a candidate does not have a bachelor’s degree, but has completed some college (1-2 yrs.), an equivalent qualification would be having at least 20 years of progressive health care design and construction experience having completed Florida AHCA projects, and professional development credentials including A Florida General Contractors License and completed certification as an AHA Certified Health Care Constructor.

Licensure/Certification

State of Florida Certified General Contractor’s license, active licensed professional architect or engineer, or being an AHA Certified Healthcare Constructor is desired but not required, however 1-2 t are required if a bachelor’s degree has not been earned.

Experience

Ten years minimum of progressively responsible construction management, engineering, facilities planning, or architecture experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
