Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ seeks a Director for Global Clinical Supply External Operations to lead external vendor relationships and drive packaging service strategy, governance, and performance across the GCS network.

This role partners with Procurement, Finance, Quality, and other functions to ensure end-to-end supply chain delivery, risk management, and continuous improvement aligned with enterprise priorities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in corporate environment within pharmaceutical or similar.
• Minimum 5 years experience in clinical supply chain, packaging operations and/or vendor management.
• Strong understanding of cGMP/GDP, including FDA and EMEA.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with Users, Peers and Sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Define and advance partnership objectives, overseeing supplier deliverables, timelines, performance, risks, issues, and opportunities.
• Lead through influence across GCS functions and enabling partners to ensure effective decision-making and value realization.
• Drive integration readiness and oversight of beachhead assets to support pipeline delivery.
• Standardize processes, governance, and connectivity between suppliers and GCS functions.
• Communicate with senior leaders by synthesizing operational and financial information into clear insights.
