Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a public, open access institution in the Virginia Community College System. The Director of Experiential Learning leads CPL and Work-Based Learning initiatives at PVCC, reporting to the VP of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development, and works with employer partners to create meaningful, career-connected learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, higher education administration, workforce development, or a related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, workforce development, or a related setting, including program coordination or administration.
• Direct experience with CPL/prior-learning assessment and policy.
• Experience building partnerships with employers, industry, or community organizations.
• Proficiency with labor-market analytics tools and student-success platforms.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to help engage employers and support students.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to serving adult learners and students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead CPL and WBL implementation across PVCC in collaboration with campus and employers.
• Streamline CPL policies, processes and promote CPL pathways.
• Expand CPL credits and develop apprenticeship pathways.
• Coordinate with Career Services to align work-based learning with industry demand.
• Represent PVCC in regional workforce networks and secure external funding.
• Provide professional development for faculty on experiential learning.
