Job summary

A Wider Circle in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Director, Essential Support to lead furniture and clothing distribution programs. This on-site role guides a team of about 10 staff and interns, serving 5,000+ individuals annually, with one remote day per week after 90 days.

You will shape strategy, strengthen systems, and build leadership capacity to ensure equitable, high-quality client service in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• 4+ years of nonprofit or similar settings with leadership experience.
• Experience managing staff, programs, and budgets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Google Suite and CRM systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Essential Support department, fostering a collaborative, client-centered environment.
• Oversee staffing, onboarding, performance management, and professional development for staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Coach and mentor managers to strengthen leadership capacity and consistent decision-making.
• Develop and monitor departmental goals and KPIs using program data and outcomes.
• Ensure documentation, data integrity, reporting, and compliance with policies.
• Oversight of scheduling, client flow, and CRM processes to maximize service delivery.
• Drive innovation with new initiatives and operational improvements.
• Serve as Floor Manager as needed for furniture distribution.
