Purple Tree Recruiting is partnering with a large, asset-intensive organization undergoing a significant enterprise transformation. We are searching for a Director-level leader to help shape the next phase of its SAP and enterprise strategy.
This is much more than a traditional SAP implementation, functional, or architecture role. The Director will help transform how the organization plans, prioritizes, forecasts, and manages significant capital and operating investments across the enterprise.
The environment includes SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and enterprise portfolio and project management capabilities. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of technology, finance, enterprise planning, and business transformation.
This is a highly visible leadership position requiring someone who can move comfortably between executive-level strategy and complex transformation delivery.
Own the strategy and evolution of enterprise planning capabilities across the organization. Develop a multi-year roadmap connecting financial planning, forecasting, portfolio management, workforce planning, and investment governance with the broader SAP transformation.
Partner with senior leaders to modernize how the organization evaluates investments, develops forecasts, allocates resources, and measures financial and operational performance.
Help establish an integrated approach for managing a large, multi-year capital portfolio.
Work closely with Finance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Technology, and program leadership to improve investment prioritization, capital forecasting, scenario planning, project governance, and portfolio visibility.
Create greater consistency around how projects are evaluated, planned, funded, monitored, and measured across the enterprise.
Provide leadership for the implementation and evolution of SAP Analytics Cloud and enterprise portfolio/project management capabilities within an S/4HANA environment.
Guide the program across solution strategy, design, integration, testing, deployment, stabilization, and continued optimization.
Ensure planning and portfolio solutions integrate effectively with S/4HANA, enterprise data platforms, analytics, and reporting environments.
Serve as a senior point of accountability for implementation partners and systems integrators.
Manage scope, priorities, delivery expectations, risks, and outcomes while possessing enough SAP and transformation expertise to effectively challenge proposed solutions and decisions when necessary.
Build strong relationships with senior leaders across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Technology, and other business functions.
Translate complex technology and transformation initiatives into clear business outcomes, risks, investment decisions, and priorities for executive stakeholders.
A significant part of this position will involve influencing across organizational boundaries and creating alignment among groups with different priorities.
Lead the organizational side of the transformation in addition to the technology.
Help establish governance, operating models, training, adoption strategies, and standardized planning processes that allow the organization to realize the long-term value of its technology investments.
Partner with data and analytics teams to build a stronger foundation for predictive forecasting, scenario modeling, executive reporting, and future AI-enabled planning and decision support.
The strongest candidates will bring a combination of SAP transformation leadership, enterprise planning experience, technical credibility, and executive influence.
Experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, transportation, or another capital- and asset-intensive environment would be particularly valuable.
This position requires more than someone who knows SAP.
We are looking for a leader who understands how technology can fundamentally change the way a large organization plans and makes investment decisions.
The right person will be comfortable challenging a systems integrator in one meeting, discussing capital planning with Finance in another, and presenting transformation priorities and risks to senior executives later that day.
They should bring an enterprise mindset, strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to lead through ambiguity and significant organizational change.
