Job summary

Spectrum is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive performance optimization for 5G HMNO and Spectrum Mobile Network WiFi RAN. You will lead cross-functional teams, push improvements in capacity and user experience, and partner with vendors to implement upgrades across 5G and WiFi domains.

You will oversee KPI development, troubleshooting, and the deployment of performance enhancement plans, while leveraging AI/ML tools for proactive reporting and incident prevention.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience and/or network operations.
  • 7+ years of management experience.
  • 2+ years of project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define KPIs and strategies to ensure high-performance 5G HMNO and SMN WiFi RAN networks.
  • Lead engineering teams to identify and resolve network bottlenecks and deploy performance plans.
  • Support end-to-end troubleshooting for 5G and WiFi networks using vendor tools and Spectrum systems.
  • Monitor KPIs and lead plans to improve user experience, network health and utilization.
  • Define requirements for real-time KPI dashboards.
  • Standardize parameter configuration, neighbor lists and software upgrades.
  • Manage relationships with network equipment vendors and evaluate hardware/software for upgrades.
  • Utilize Big Data and AI/ML tools (e.g., Alteryx, Python, Tableau) for anomaly detection and automated reporting.

Job description

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Leads a group of engineers responsible for the 5G Hybrid Mobile Network (HMNO) & Spectrum Mobile Network (SMN) WiFi RAN Performance & Optimization. Responsible for strategic initiatives to enhance 5G & network quality, capacity, and user experience by drive maximizing SMN offload and ensuring service impacting events are identified and resolved quickly, while making the network configuration changes that optimize user experience in both SMN-WiFi & HMNO networks.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Define KPIs and develop strategies to ensure high-performance, capacity, and user experience for 5G HMNO and SMN WiFi RAN networks.
  • Lead engineering teams to identify and resolve network bottlenecks, performing root cause analysis, and deploying performance enhancement plans.
  • Support end-to-end troubleshooting for both 5G & WiFi networks, focusing on signaling protocols, using vendor-specific applications/tools and Charter owned network management systems.
  • Actively monitor network performance KPIs and lead plans to improve end-user experience, service performance, network health, utilization, and operational efficiency
  • Define requirements for real-time KPI dashboards.
  • Standardize parameter configuration, neighbor lists, and software upgrades.
  • Manage relationships with network equipment vendors, evaluating hardware/software, and providing input for future upgrades.
  • Utilize Big Data, AI/ML tools (e.g., Alteryx, Python, Tableau) for anomaly detection and automated performance reporting.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Master's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience
  • 10+ years of engineering experience and/or network operations
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
    Skills
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Advanced knowledge of HFC, Advanced Video, IP Networks, and Telephony
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
    • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
    • Ability to supervise and motivate others
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
    • Advanced knowledge of all FCC compliance reports and other rules and regulations
    • Comprehensive understanding of applicable local and state rules and regulations; comprehensive understanding of OSHA rules and regulations, both federal and state
    • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC and power distribution systems, Analog Transmission Line Theory, and Electronic Theory
    • In-depth knowledge of Federal Communications Commission regulations, Fiber Optic theory, National Electric Code, and National Electric Safety Code
    Preferred Qualifications
    Education
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E)
    • Advanced Knowledge of company products and services
    • Advanced Knowledge of 5G SA and 802.11 networks
    • Advanced Knowledge of RF design and RAN system performance fundamentals for 5G and WiFi
    • Advanced Knowledge of GIS and data science fundamentals
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Alteryx, Qualcomm, Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
    • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E)

    The base pay for this position generally is between $138,800.00 and $246,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
