Job summary

Viatris is seeking a Director of Engineering & Controls to lead complex engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring budgeted costs and schedules are met. You will oversee SOP development, bidding processes, and regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local rules while guiding cross-functional teams and outside vendors.

Minimum BS degree with 15+ years of experience preferred; a combination of experience and education will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages assigned engineering projects from conception to completion, tracking costs and schedule within scope.
• Develops and administers budgets, specifications, drawings, schedules and SOPs; measures progress against standards.
• Obtains bids, analyzes results and makes recommendations.
• Ensures projects comply with federal, state and local regulations, cGMPs and company standards.
• Identifies and implements changes to production equipment to improve reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Coordinates changes from scope, documents projects and records as-builts.
• Communicates project status to management and stakeholders; manages issues/risks and escalates when needed.
• Delivers project outcomes; implements processes and metrics for continuous improvement.
• Directs engineering personnel, contractors and consultants as required.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Responsible for directing and managing assigned engineering projects from conception to completion, tracking and assuring project costs are within scope and on schedule.
• Develops and administers budgets, project specifications, drawings, schedules, performance standards and SOPs, measuring progress against these standards.
• Obtain competitive bids on projects, analyzing the results and developing recommendations.
• Ensure that projects are designed and executed in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations, cGMPs and company standards.
• Identify, develop and implement changes and improvements to production equipment to include the following areas/equipment: extrusion, slitting, label/circular printing, inspection, folders, mixing, coating, die-cutting and packaging to improve reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original scope, inspecting work for conformance to specifications, drawings and standards, ensuring that projects are properly documented and as-builts are recorded and filed.
• Issues and communicates project status to project management and other stakeholders as appropriate. Manages project issues/risks in a timely manner and appropriately escalating when necessary.
• Responsible for measuring and delivering project outcomes successfully. Implements and/or adapts processes and metrics to ensure project goals and objectives are achieved. Sets performance objectives and incorporates feedback from team and organization for continuous improvement.
• Direct Engineering personnel, contractors and consultants as required to complete work, assisting in solving problems and acting as a resource and mentor to other engineers and operations personnel.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent) and 10 years of experience required.
• 15+ years of experience preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is $112,000.00 - $236,000.00 USD.
