Join to apply for the Director, Engineering role at Viant Medical

As the Director of Engineering for Advanced Metal Solutions, you will lead excellence in cost, delivery, and quality. Your role involves establishing best practices across multiple sites and guiding areas such as capacity planning, product placement, leveraging spending, standardization, new technology implementation, and operational excellence.

This remote-based position oversees operations at seven metal sites in NY, MA, IL, PA, WI, and IN.

Main Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop processes for capacity data monitoring and updating, including routers in Oracle.
  2. Analyze footprint and equipment capacity; develop investment strategies balancing standardization and specialization.
  3. Collaborate with senior leaders to drive OPEX culture, project execution, facilities strategy, and capital planning.
  4. Assess new business opportunities and assist in site selection considering resources, advantages, and continuity.
  5. Create cost-saving plans through insourcing, spend leverage, and process standardization.
  6. Improve machine uptime via predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and quick changeovers.
  7. Identify capability gaps and guide investment in critical skills.
  8. Support professional development of engineers in AMS.
  9. Research and implement new technologies.
  10. Provide guidance to AMS sites on problem solving, customer support, and validations.
  11. Build relationships with suppliers and customers, providing technical support and collaboration.
  12. Contribute to project aspects like manufacturability, timelines, critical paths, and resource planning.
  13. Support multi-site initiatives and be a key member of the AMS leadership team with direct reporting to the VP of AMS Operations.
Position Requirements
  1. 10+ years in operations and manufacturing; medical device industry experience preferred.
  2. Experience in fast-growing medical device sectors, product introduction, engineering management, and equipment purchasing desired.
  3. Knowledge of metal machining, CNC, Swiss, Grinding, Laser Welding, Etching, Electropolish, and Passivation.
  4. Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  5. Strong leadership, influence, change management, judgment, and communication skills.
  6. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field.
Physical Requirements
  • Light work involving exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Visual acuity for inspecting parts and blueprints.
Work Conditions
  • Office setting with some work on production floors.
  • Potential hazards include moving mechanical parts, electrical, sharp metals, chemicals.
  • Travel required up to 2-3 weeks per month.

We offer competitive salary, with a range of $180k-$225k, based on experience and location.
