Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Energy Storage Sales will lead the commercial growth of Qcells' integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions across the South and Southeast United States. The position will originate, develop and close community-scale, commercial and industrial, data-center, distributed-generation and selected utility-scale opportunities.

The successful candidate will combine an established regional customer network with strong technical and commercial knowledge of BESS hardware, power-conversion systems, energy-management software, commissioning, warranties and lifecycle services. This individual will be accountable for building a qualified pipeline, achieving annual bookings and margin targets, and coordinating opportunities across product management, engineering, legal, finance, supply chain and project execution.

This position will be based in Houston, Texas. Travel up to 50% may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead sales of Qcells BESS hardware, EMS/software, commissioning, warranty and lifecycle-service offerings throughout the assigned territory.

  • Develop and execute a regional go-to-market and account-development plan aligned with annual bookings, revenue, MWh and gross-margin targets.

  • Build senior-level relationships with developers, IPPs, EPCs, utilities, electric cooperatives, municipalities, data-center operators and large commercial and industrial energy users.

  • Identify, qualify and advance opportunities from initial customer engagement through proposal, contract negotiation, booking and handoff to project execution.

  • Translate customer use cases, site constraints and performance requirements into commercially and technically viable system configurations in coordination with product management and system engineering.

  • Position Qcells BESS solution based on total cost of ownership, bankability, system performance, controls integration, delivery schedule, warranty coverage and after-sales support.

  • Lead responses to RFIs, RFPs and bilateral procurements, including internal coordination of scope, pricing, risk review and approvals.

  • Develop commercial proposals covering equipment and software scope, pricing, payment milestones, delivery schedules, performance obligations, warranties and services.

  • Maintain a disciplined CRM pipeline with clear probability, timing, MWh, revenue, margin, customer decision criteria and competitive-position information.

  • Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts and maintain sufficient qualified pipeline coverage against assigned targets.

  • Protect project profitability through pricing discipline, thoughtful management of commercial exceptions and early escalation of contractual or execution risk.

  • Monitor regional utility programs, interconnection requirements, storage incentives, tax-credit eligibility, domestic-content considerations, FEOC restrictions and safe-harbor procurement structures.

  • Develop channel and strategic relationships with regional EPCs, engineering firms, developers, consultants and service providers.

  • Represent Qcells at customer meetings, conferences and regional market-development events; provide structured intelligence on competitors, customer needs and product gaps.

  • Coordinate a complete post-award handoff to project execution, commissioning and lifecycle-services teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.

  • At least ten years of complex energy, infrastructure or power-sector sales experience, including at least five years in battery energy storage.

  • Demonstrated success selling integrated BESS equipment, software or turnkey solutions to developers, EPCs, utilities or large commercial customers.

  • Established relationships within Texas and the South/Southeast energy-storage markets.

  • Experience developing and closing multi-million-dollar equipment or infrastructure contracts with long and complex sales cycles.

  • Working knowledge of battery systems, PCS/inverters, transformers, switchgear, EMS/SCADA integration, system sizing, interconnection and commissioning.

  • Understanding of BESS warranties, availability and performance obligations, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and long-term service agreements.

  • Familiarity with federal tax-credit requirements, domestic-content considerations, FEOC restrictions and safe-harbor procurement structures.

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, single-line diagrams, customer RFPs and commercial term sheets.

  • Strong financial and commercial judgment, including pricing, gross-margin management, payment terms and contractual risk.
