Job summary

Skanska USA is looking for a dynamic Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director in Portland, Oregon. This role will be crucial in integrating EHS services into business practices and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The EHS Director will manage regional activities related to environmental health and safety, working closely with various stakeholders, including project managers and senior leaders. The position requires at least 10 years of relevant experience and OSHA 30 certification.

Role Overview

Skanska is searching for a dynamic Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director. The position focuses on integrating EHS services into business practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The EHS Director will oversee all OU/Regional business activities related to environmental health & safety services, interacting with EHS staff, superintendents, project managers, and senior operating unit leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate environmental health & safety services into business practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee all OU/Regional business activities related to environmental health & safety services.
  • Interact directly with EHS staff, superintendents, project managers, project executives, area safety directors, operating unit EVP’s and general managers.
  • Manage projects, including full‑time EHS Director roles for larger projects.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a role assigned to the identification of safety hazards and recommending appropriate controls.
  • 10+ years of experience in a safety role that required communication with employees at all levels in a construction environment.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • 2+ years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, safety management, engineering, or equivalent, OR 10 years of safety experience.
