Job summary

The Atlantic Council seeks a Director to lead the Economic Statecraft Initiative within the GeoEconomics Center in Washington, DC. This is a senior role to shape the agenda on sanctions, financial statecraft, and international economic policy while building a high-performing team and network of senior fellows.

The Director will drive research, fundraising, and external engagement, managing budgets and programs, and representing the center in U.S.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in economic statecraft, financial sanctions, national security, or international economic policy.
• Deep subject-matter expertise in sanctions design, implementation, and enforcement.
• Proven track record in high-quality, policy-relevant research, writing, and public communication.
• Experience in fundraising, grant acquisition, and donor cultivation.

Responsibilities

• Lead research agenda on sanctions, economic coercion, illicit finance, and related statecraft.
• Oversee policy reports, briefs, testimony, and commentary with actionable analysis.
• Develop data tools and collaborate with GeoEconomics Center on cross-cutting initiatives.
• Represent ESI in congressional testimony, media appearances, and expert forums.
