Job summary

The Standard seeks a Director and Actuary on the ALM & Capital Analytics team to lead the JFSA Economic Capital program, transforming regulatory requirements into strategic business management. You will oversee governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement while partnering with Meiji Yasuda to align risk and value insights with strategy.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of actuarial experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Solid understanding of economic capital regulations and governance and their impact on business strategy.
• Experience with JFSA (a plus) and strong technical skills in Excel; Power BI and Dataiku are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee economic capital results under the JFSA framework for Meiji Yasuda and senior management.
• Lead and develop a team of economic capital professionals, setting priorities and ensuring high-quality analysis.
• Serve as the primary liaison with Meiji Yasuda on methodologies, results, and reporting requirements.
• Partner with Product Lines, Actuarial Modeling, Finance, ALM, Investments, ERM, and Governance to interpret results and ensure governance.
• Educate stakeholders to build JFSA acumen and a shared understanding of results.
• Promote consistent use of economic capital information to support risk, performance, and growth decisions.
• Communicate results and emerging risks to senior management, auditors, regulators, Meiji Yasuda and other stakeholders.
• Research industry best practices in economic capital, capital frameworks, and value-based management.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business or related field

ASA designation required / FSA strongly preferred
