Qualifications

  • Current credential as an RDCS, RCS, RVT, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years in cardiovascular ultrasound.
  • Supervisory or management experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of echocardiography and vascular ultrasound protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily operations of the Echocardiography and Vascular Laboratory department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate sonographers and technical staff.
  • Develop staffing schedules to ensure efficient workflow and patient access.
  • Maintain compliance with IAC accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and monitor quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists to ensure high-quality diagnostic studies and adherence to imaging protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor productivity, patient satisfaction, and operational performance metrics; participate in budgeting and equipment planning.
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, competency assessments, and continuing education for staff.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment focused on teamwork and growth.

Job description

Cardiology of Virginia is seeking an experienced, motivated, and collaborative Director of Echo & Vascular Services to lead our accredited Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound departments. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, staff development, and strategic growth of our non-invasive cardiovascular imaging services.

The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with extensive experience in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while promoting operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the daily operations of the Echocardiography and Vascular Laboratory department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate sonographers and technical staff.
  • Develop staffing schedules to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient access.
  • Maintain compliance with IAC accreditation standards and all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and monitor quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists to ensure high-quality diagnostic studies and adherence to imaging protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor productivity, patient satisfaction, and operational performance metrics.Participate in budgeting, capital equipment planning, and resource management.
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, competency assessments, and continuing education for staff.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment focused on teamwork and professional growth.
  • Work closely with physicians, administrators, and other departments to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Stay current with advances in cardiovascular imaging technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Current credential as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of cardiovascular ultrasound experience.
  • Supervisory or management experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of echocardiography and vascular ultrasound protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience managing IAC-accredited laboratories.
  • Experience with outpatient cardiology practices.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and cardiovascular reporting systems.
  • Experience with workflow optimization, quality improvement, and departmental budgeting.
