Director, Early Phase Services
Helps oversee, develop, and lead early phase clinical research projects at Flourish Research, ensuring compliance with SOPs, regulations, and sponsor expectations. The role is based in San Antonio, TX with 30% travel and reports to the Site Director.
Base Pay Range
$150,000.00/yr – $170,000.00/yr

Flourish Research advances the health and wellness of society through clinical trials, operating one of the largest integrated research sites in the US across cardiology, metabolic disorders, CNS, pulmonology, and vaccines.
The Role & Opportunity
Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for a team delivering high‑quality early phase research, fostering team growth, and ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Leadership
- Drive early phase study acquisition across all Flourish sites and build sponsor & CRO relationships for Phase I/II opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain sponsor and CRO relationships.
Site Capability Development
- Conduct gap analyses, develop implementation roadmaps, and provide training to build site infrastructure.
- Lead hiring, mentoring, and supervision of the early phase team.
- Ensure team meets budget, revenue, and productivity goals.
- Deliver enterprise‑level training programs and standardize operations across sites.
- Represent Flourish Research professionally to staff, sponsors, IRBs, patients, and healthcare partners.
- Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA & company agreements.
- Assist with operations, process improvement, and project delivery as a CRC when needed.
- Attend manager meetings, trainings, and organizational meetings.
- Conduct staff evaluations and counseling.
Operational Oversight
- Travel to sites to assess readiness, provide on‑site support, and meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Maintain communication and training with investigator teams per FDA/ICH guidelines.
- Ensure data integrity and review data collection procedures.
- Coordinate monitoring visits, PSVs, SIVs, IMVs, budgeting, and partnership calls.
- Communicate issues and feedback to supervisors and executive team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Strategic Planning
- Drive recruitment to meet enrollment goals for all studies.
- Forecast visits, revenue, and profit; lead department financial & quality goals.
- Collaborate on budgeting and contract negotiations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required; Master’s or advanced clinical credentials preferred.
- 1–3 years of early phase clinical research management experience.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- Demonstrated early phase trial management experience.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of federal regulations, ICH guidelines, GCPs, IRB requirements, HIPAA, and SOPs.
- Clinical expertise in ECG, vitals, history, source documents, and specimen processing.
- Efficient handling of high‑volume paperwork.
- Project management and resource planning skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, data entry systems, and RealTime software.
- Ability to develop and implement process improvements and new hire training.
- Achieve at least 80% of annual goals.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Typical office environment with local and continental U.S. travel; occasional international travel.

- Requires up to 35 lbs lift; requires a vehicle.
- Weekend, holiday, and outside‑core‑hours availability may be required.
