Job summary

PBS SoCal is seeking a Temporary, Director, Events to lead the planning, production, and execution of donor, community, marketing, and programming events. This hands-on role partners with leaders to deliver high-quality events aligned with PBS SoCal's mission and priorities.

The Director ensures seamless cross-functional collaboration, coordination of the event portfolio, and exceptional experiences for donors, audiences, partners, and the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience leading complex events including budgets and onsite production.
• Proven ability to partner with multiple internal and external stakeholders to manage shifting priorities.
• Excellent project management, communication, and relationship-building skills with senior leaders, donors, and staff.
• Familiarity with event registration platforms, virtual event technologies, and attendee management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of donor, community, marketing, and programming events from concept through post-event wrap-up.
• Oversee end-to-end event logistics, production schedules, budgets, vendors, contracts, and operations for a high-quality attendee experience.
• Provide hands-on leadership and onsite management as the primary coordinator during events.
• Develop production timelines, run-of-show, staffing plans, and contingency plans to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate with venues, caterers, production companies, rental vendors, and other partners to execute events smoothly.
• Prepare post-event reports, budget reconciliations, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align event priorities with organizational goals.
