Job summary

Terrana Biosciences seeks a Director, Data & Technology to build and lead company-wide data, IT, software and ML/AI capabilities. You will report to the VP of Strategy and Operations and manage 3-5 direct reports while coordinating external vendors and contractors to drive high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in CS/Data/Info Systems/Bioinformatics; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, software, digital platforms, ML/AI enablement or IT
• Proven ability to develop and execute technical strategy and lead cross-functional teams
• Experience deploying and operating production software and ML/AI-enabled workflows

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a company-wide data strategy and execution plan
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of 3-5 direct reports plus contractors and consultants
• Establish clear goals, development plans and performance expectations
• Translate stakeholder needs into defined projects with on-time delivery
• Evolve Terrana's data architecture including cloud platforms, data models, pipelines and APIs
• Enforce data governance, security and lifecycle policies
• Collaborate with software engineers, ML/AI scientists and domain experts to productionize solutions
• Oversee bespoke software development and workflow automation as needed
• Provide secure IT services and cybersecurity oversight
• Represent Data function in leadership discussions and decisions
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize systems and services
