Job summary

Terrana Biosciences is seeking a senior leader to design and execute company-wide data, IT, software, and ML/AI capabilities to support agricultural biotech objectives.

You will lead 3-5 team members, manage external vendors, drive data governance, cloud architecture, and production deployment of ML/AI models while engaging executives on strategy and risk. This role requires strong stakeholder communication and a proven track record delivering scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in computer science, bioinformatics, or related field.
• 10+ years in data engineering, software, or IT with leadership.
• Strong cloud experience (AWS preferred), data modeling, pipelines, APIs, and ML/AI deployment.
• Knowledge of enterprise IT operations, cybersecurity, and scientific workflows.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Role:

Responsibilities:

• direct 3-5 team members and coordinate external vendors
• establish data governance, FAIR data practices, and resilient cloud data architecture
• oversee deployment of software and ML/AI models into production workflows
• manage IT services including cybersecurity and vendor relationships
• serve as senior leader engaging with executive stakeholders on strategy, progress, and risks.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's in computer science, bioinformatics, or related field
• 10+ years in data engineering, software, or IT with proven strategy development and leadership
• strong cloud experience (preferably AWS), expertise in data modeling, pipelines, APIs, and ML/AI deployment
• knowledge of enterprise IT operations, cybersecurity, and scientific workflows
• excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Preferred:

• experience with LIMS systems like Benchling, AI-native tools, and workflow automation.
