Director, Data Solution Architect

Reports to:

Chief Data Officer

Location:

Remote (approved states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington)

The Role

The Data Solution Architect designs data solutions across all functional areas, working with business teams and leaders. Responsibilities include designing comprehensive data solutions to support business needs, optimize data management, and enable data-driven decisions. The role requires expertise in data architecture, AWS cloud technologies, and data engineering practices. Collaboration with data engineers, analysts, and IT leaders is essential to create scalable and efficient data systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design data solutions aligned with strategic business goals.
2. Architect scalable, high-performance data pipelines for ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis.
3. Embed data security, privacy, and governance (GDPR, PII) into architecture.
4. Create data models and workflows for efficient data integration and transformation.

Collaboration and Leadership

1. Engage with stakeholders to understand data requirements and design solutions.
2. Lead and guide data engineering and application teams.
3. Establish best practices and standards for data management and analytics.
4. Coordinate with Program Delivery and Engagement teams to meet expectations.

Technology Expertise

1. Leverage AWS cloud technologies and modern data architectures (Data Mesh, Data Products, Pub-Sub).
2. Recommend new data tools and platforms to enhance infrastructure.
3. Troubleshoot system issues to improve efficiency and uptime.
4. Document architecture and data flows comprehensively.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership, business acumen, and industry knowledge.
• Expertise in data integration, data mesh, warehousing, storage, and analytics.
• Experience leading cross-organizational teams across multiple sites.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 10-15 years in data solution architecture, with experience in large-scale projects.
• Extensive retail industry experience, including customer data, marketing, warehouse management, 3PL, and product management.
• Strong AWS cloud implementation and security expertise.
