The Data Operations Group at Eisai, Inc. is looking for a Director - Data Scientist/Programmer to drive drug development through predictive modeling of disease and drug response. The Data Scientist will work closely with Biostatisticians in the Stat Methodology / Machine Learning group to support projects across various stages of development. This role will be integral in providing actionable insights for critical data science projects that are vital to our business.

This position may be either office-based (hybrid) in Nutley, NJ, or remote-based.

Responsibilities

1. Data Analysis for Strategic Insights: Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights, identify key trends, and provide data-driven recommendations supporting strategic decision-making.
2. Data Storage & Processing: Design, manage, and optimize data storage solutions; build and automate data pipelines for efficient processing.
3. AI-Driven Data Preparation: Leverage AI and machine learning algorithms for automated data preparation; create dynamic visualizations via Power BI for better decision-making.
4. Natural Language Processing (NLP) & Large Language Models (LLM): Apply NLP techniques and LLMs to analyze unstructured data, generating infographics and narratives to uncover hidden patterns.
5. Pipeline Orchestration & Automation: Automate data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, and Dagster for seamless workflows.
6. Data Quality & Consistency: Establish validation rules to ensure data integrity and high quality throughout the data lifecycle.
7. Incremental Data Loads: Implement strategies to optimize data refresh cycles and resource use.
8. Event-Driven Automation: Enable real-time updates for dashboards to support dynamic decision-making.
9. Low-Latency Data Processing: Ensure performance for real-time insights.
10. Dashboard Optimization: Use parameterized queries and techniques to improve Power BI responsiveness.
11. Data Communication & Visualization: Present complex data clearly to non-technical audiences via reports and dashboards.
12. Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Conduct thorough EDA to assess data quality and uncover insights.
13. Feature Engineering: Develop features from raw data to improve model performance.

Qualifications

1. Master's degree with 7+ years of related experience.
2. Deep knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data modeling.
3. Proficiency in Python or R, with experience in data libraries.
4. Experience with visualization tools like Tableau or matplotlib.
5. Familiarity with big data tech (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
6. Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
7. Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.

Eisai Salary Transparency Language: The base salary range for the Director, Data Scientist & Data Operations is $196,800-$258,300. This position is eligible for participation in the Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan & Long Term Incentive Plan. Final pay depends on experience, education, and skills.
