Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of Data Science in McLean, VA to lead enterprise AI/ML initiatives across billions of customer records. You’ll design experiments, build models, and translate results into strategy for C‑suite leadership.

You’ll partner with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver scalable analytics products. The role requires advanced degrees or equivalent experience, strong open‑source coding skills, and a track record of production ML deployments.

Qualifications

• Degree in quantitative field with required analytics experience.
• 4+ years using open source languages for large-scale data analytics.
• 4+ years building/deploying AI/ML models in production.
• 4+ years designing and analyzing A/B tests.
• PhD in STEM with 5+ years of data analytics (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, AI & ML engineers, and product managers to deliver enterprise products customers love.
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights from large data sets.
• Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
• Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals for stakeholders.
