Job summary

Revel IT is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead a growing team of data scientists and ML engineers in a fully remote role. You will shape data science strategy, oversee advanced ML solutions, and partner with executives to translate data into measurable business value.

You will balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance, guiding multiple initiatives from roadmap to production. Strong collaboration with product, engineering and analytics teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, data science, statistics or math.
  • 7+ years of experience in data science, ML, analytics or modeling.
  • 5+ years in leading and developing technical analytics data science teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern data science libraries.
  • Expertise with SQL and large-scale cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake or Azure).
  • Experience building and deploying ML models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark.
  • Knowledge of MLOps and collaborating with engineering to operationalize ML solutions.
  • Experience creating executive-level dashboards and visualizations using Power BI or Tableau.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Foster collaboration across product, engineering, analytics and business teams.
  • Champion innovation by evaluating emerging AI and analytics technologies.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and measurable business outcomes.
  • Ensure data science initiatives meet regulatory and security requirements in healthcare environment.

Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 base + 20-30% annual bonus

Overview

We're partnering with an innovative healthcare technology organization that is expanding its Data & Analytics leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Director of Data Science to lead a growing team of data scientists and ML engineers while remaining technically engaged in solving complex business problems.

In this role, you'll help shape the organization's data science strategy, oversee the development of advanced machine learning solutions, and partner with executive leadership to turn data into measurable business value. You'll balance strategic leadership with hands‑on technical guidance, helping teams deliver scalable, production-ready AI and analytics solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Analytics professionals.
  • Partner with business and executive stakeholders to identify opportunities where data science can improve products, operations, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Drive the development and deployment of predictive models, machine learning solutions, and advanced analytics initiatives.
  • Establish best practices for model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide technical teams through project planning, prioritization, and execution while removing obstacles that impact delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure machine learning models are production‑ready and scalable.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to executive leadership through compelling storytelling and data visualization.
  • Develop roadmaps, delivery plans, timelines, and success metrics for multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration across product, engineering, analytics, and business teams.

  • Build a culture focused on continuous improvement, technical excellence, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Ensure data science initiatives align with regulatory, security, and compliance requirements within a healthcare environment.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics, or statistical modeling.

Preferred Experience
  • Healthcare, insurance, life sciences, or other highly regulated industry experience.
  • Experience building or scaling enterprise AI and machine learning capabilities.
  • Background leading multiple simultaneous analytics or data science initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and cross‑functional program leadership.
