Job summary

Walt Disney Parks, Experiences & Products, LLC is seeking a Director of Technology – Information Systems to lead data and analytics platforms in Salem. You will drive cloud-based, scalable solutions and collaborate with data engineers, scientists and business stakeholders to enable self-service insights.

The role requires a BS/MS in a related field and 4+ years in data engineering/architecture, with hands-on experience in Snowflake, BigQuery, Airflow and ML workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in data engineering, data structures and architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of data architecture, data warehousing, analytics, and statistical science implementations.
  • Experience with data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake and BigQuery, and familiarity with Snowflake platform technologies.
  • Proficiency with lakehouse architectures and common file formats.
  • Experience designing and building large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines using Kinesis, Kafka and Google Pub/Sub.
  • Hands-on experience with data transformation using DBT.
  • Knowledge of orchestration tools such as Airflow.
  • Experience with data federation tools like Starburst Presto.
  • Knowledge of data quality practices and tools (e.g., SODA, Datadog, Anomalo).
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy regulations and tools (e.g., Privacera, Apache Ranger).
  • Experience with data governance platforms like Alation.
  • Proficiency with BI tools: Tableau, Looker, SAS and MicroStrategy.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture for AI/ML integration patterns.
  • Experience developing and deploying machine-learning solutions at scale.
  • Proficiency with tools such as SageMaker, Jupyter, Streamlit and Dataiku.
  • Knowledge of MLOps tools including SageMaker, MLflow, Google Colab and Google Data Studio.
  • Understanding of machine-learning model versioning and observability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the layout, development and implementation of data and analytics solutions that support the DPEP information strategy with cloud-native tech.
  • Oversee daily platform operation, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance and data-driven optimization.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to meet user needs.
  • Assess COTS solutions and foster partnerships to evolve the data platform architecture.
  • Prototype new technologies and enable teams to consume and understand statistics with modern BI tooling.
  • Pioneer solutions that enhance information security, privacy and governance compliance.
  • Architect extensible architectures to support ML/AI and emerging tech.
