Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Secaucus, NJ is seeking a Director of Data Fabric Platform to lead strategy, architecture, and execution of the data fabric and data product marketplace, ensuring scalable, secure, and self-serve data for the business.

You will build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, drive multi-cloud integration with GCP as the primary platform, govern data governance and security, and partner with stakeholders to accelerate insights and business innovation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, data architecture, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven experience leading the development of large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing external or outsourced engineering and support teams.
• Expert-level knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services (e.g., BigQuery, Dataplex, Dataflow, Pub/Sub).
• Practical experience with other major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) to facilitate multi-cloud integration.
• Deep understanding of data strategy, budgeting, data governance, and data security.
• Technical fluency in infrastructure automation, Python, Java or other languages; experience with data warehouses, SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high-performing engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate a strategic vision for the data fabric platform and data product marketplace.
• Architect the platform with GCP as the primary cloud, enabling multi-cloud integration (AWS, Azure) and on-premises data sources.
• Mentor and empower leads and managers to drive architectural decisions and ensure scalability and performance.
• Establish KPIs for reliability, cost-efficiency, and time-to-insight; ensure value delivery through certified data products.
• Lead data governance and security in partnership with security, legal, and compliance teams.
• Collaborate with business leaders and data analysts to understand needs and deliver insights and solutions through the platform.
